Projetar na prancheta com ferramentas não-eletrônicas, como no século passado, é uma maneira muito resumida para representar informações, obrigando a muito retrabalho para produzi-las. Quando temos um modelo BIM 3D, isso quer dizer que, mesmo que não tenhamos na tela do computador as fachadas e os cortes 2D, potencialmente já existem no banco de dados do modelo 3D em qualquer ponto de observação que se imaginar.
