Este projeto buscou inspiração em arquiteturas brasileiras indígenas, fruto de climas quentes e umidos como o local da casa, angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro. A cobertura funciona como uma grande folha que protege do sol todos os cômodos da casa, assim como os espaços livres entre eles. Esses espaços livres representam a essência do projeto, e como não poderia deixar de ser, são os espaços mais interessantes e mais utilizados pelas pessoas que frequentam a casa. Têm na maior parte das vezes um pé direito muito alto e permite que o vento dominante de sudeste venha frontalmente do mar em direção e através da casa, provendo a todas as áreas da casa, abertas ou fechadas ventilação e resfriamento passivo. Ecoeficiência low-tech, onde ela tem o maior poder de ação num prédio, o conceito do projeto arquitetônico.

Nós entendemos a casa de praia como um meio de melhorar e tornar mais agradável a interação do homem com a natureza. Nunca separá-los totalmente. Não há corredores. Há muita transparência e integração entre dentro e fora, quase uma fusão entre eles. Neste aspecto é interessante realçar a passagem do paisagismo pelo térreo da casa, tanto pelo uso de vegetação quanto pela piscina que ao atravessar a casa se transforma em espelho d´água na varanda posterior . Esta varanda é chama pelo pessoal do escritório como “lounge brasileiro” pela adoção de redes para a área de descanso da sauna, enterrada no terreno que começa a subir a partir desta varanda.

Toda a estrutura da cobertura foi feita em madeira laminada de eucalipto, que devido ao seu processo de fabricação consegue ao mesmo tempo vencer grandes vãos ( 20 metros é o maior da casa) com facilidade e refinamento estético. O telhado, devido á sua geometria complexa é feita em pequenas peças de madeira (pinús). O eucalipto, assim como o Pinus são espécies plantadas para reflorestamento e usadas como matéria-prima consideradas renováveis, pela velocidade que atingem o momento ideal de serem colhidas. Todas as superfícies de acabamento da casa, exceção feita ao vidro e ao cobre patinado, são naturais: Ardósia ferrugem em tiras, madeira natural, madeira de cruzeta de poste no piso do térreo, e tramas de bambu.

O uso destes materiais naturais, do vidro e do cobre patinado, que adquire um tom esverdeado e tem vida útil muito longa, e a estética orgânica rica em detalhes como diferentes ritmos e texturas, provocou um fato interessante: A sensação de que a casa, nova em folha, parecer estar ali desde sempre, em grande harmonia com a natureza exuberante de Angra. A sensação de pertencer ao lugar.

É uma casa realmente inspiradora. É raro ver projetos tão bem integrados à natureza local.
Com certeza passará a ser parte do acervo arquitetônico brasileiro.
